BAFTA TV Awards 2017: The Results

Well, the BAFTA TV 2017 Awards were this past Sunday, with regular host Graham Norton having bowed out (it was Eurovision the night before), with Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins taking up the helm. As always, she did a good job, being able to be funny, charming and sincere when needed. BAFTA Fellowship Award- Joanna Lumely

As I mentioned, rather surprisingly, The Crown didn’t win any awards, unlike other TV award shows this year. However, it was good night for dramas Happy Valley and Damilola, Our Loved Boy. Diversity within the categories has also increased, with Adeel Akhtar and Wunmi Mosaku both winning in their respective acting awards, Muslims Like Us winning in Constructed Reality, and Damilola, Our Loved Boy winning Single Drama. Here’s to hoping this will carry on unto the future. Congratulations to all the winners, and let’s hope the next television season will be just as brilliant, entertaining and shocking.
